Emily Kabir, PT, DPT - Clinic Director 

Emily Kabir is a Syracuse, NY native and received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Syracuse University in 2006 before pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Stony Brook University in 2010. Emily began her career working in New York City for three years, where she worked in outpatient orthopedics before moving to the DMV in 2013.  Emily emphasizes the use of Osteopathic Manual Therapy, especially when treating pain due to complex spine dysfunction, and has taken advanced coursework through the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University. Emily believes at getting to the root cause of pain, and restoring the body to optimal function. Emily also employs the use of various taping techniques, Strain Counter-Strain, PNF, and neuromuscular re-education to achieve optimal results. In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, baking, going to the theater, and watching college basketball as she cheers on the Syracuse Orange and Maryland Terps.

Ellie Paczkowski, MPT, PT - Physical Therapist

2 Ellie graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with her Bachelors of  Science in Psychology in 1995. Due to her love of exercise, she then went on to graduate  with honors from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore with her Masters in Physical  Therapy in 1998. Over the past 14 years, Ellie has worked in a variety of rehabilitation  settings including aquatic therapy, home health, and outpatient orthopedics.

 In that time, she also furthered her education becoming a certified personal trainer and a certified yoga instructor. She also has studied with the Institute of Physical Art learning functional orthopedics and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, as well as the Great Lakes Group learning advanced joint mobilizations and muscle energy techniques for the ankle and spine. She has gone to courses with Kevin Wilk where she learned advanced clinical diagnostic tests and treatment for the knee and shoulder.

Ellie comes to us from Arlington, VA where she worked closely with a group of orthopedic surgeons who specialized in joint reconstruction, arthroscopic repairs of shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Ellie also treated a number of high school and college athletes suffering from sport-specific injuries and performed strength conditioning so patients could return to their sport strong and pain-free.

She is excited to join the BodyWise team to be able to incorporate her knowledge and love of yoga and pilates into the traditional physical therapy model and team it with acupuncture and Bowen therapy.

 

Vicki Seibert, MS, PT, OCS - Physical Therapist

3 Vicki earned her Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of   Southern California in 1983 after having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the   University of Delaware in 1981. She became a board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical   Specialist in 2015. Vicki has a wide range of experience, primarily in outpatient   orthopedic practices, where she has specialized in using manual therapies and functional   exercise training for patients including recreational, athletic, work-related and other accidental or overuse injuries. She has also worked in acute and rehabilitation hospitals. Vicki has taken advanced training in many areas including Jones’ Strain-Counterstrain, Muscle Energy Techniques, Joint Mobilization, Myofascial Release and other soft tissue mobilization and manual therapy techniques from a range of specialists. She is a certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner and has been studying Functional Mobilization and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation techniques with the Institute of Physical Art. She also has been studying pain neuroscience and ways to better explain pain to help patients in their recovery.

In addition to work as a physical therapist, Vicki loves swimming, tennis, time with family and friends, teaching children at her church, music and reading. Vicki was born in West Virginia, grew up in Delaware, and has lived with her husband and family in California, France and Maryland. She speaks French, sings and plays piano. Vicki loves being a physical therapist and having opportunity to meet and help people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

 

Maureen McBeth, MPT, CLT-LANA, Certified Lymphedema Therapist

Maureen McBeth, MPT, CLT-LANA, is a nationally known lymphedema and cancer rehab specialist with over 21 years of experience as a physical therapist. She received her MPT at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. While working at The University of Pennsylvania Health Systems, she received her Certified Lymphedema Training in 2004 from the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy, where she is now a primary instructor. During the past 14 years, she has developed an extensive knowledge and understanding of the lymphatic system and the many diseases that develop as a result of impairment. Having worked along side many of the current thought leaders in the world of cancer rehab and lymphedema treatment, Maureen has developed a reputation for her passion and ability to provide the highest level of compassionate and evidenced based care for her patients. She enjoys traveling, photography, cooking and anything outdoors. 

Chanel Vanderhorst, PT, DPT, CLT, Certified Lymphedema Therapist

Chanel was raised in Columbia, MD. She graduated from Spelman College in 2007 with her Bachelors of Arts. She then went on to pursue her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Temple University. Chanel worked in the outpatient orthopedic setting for 4 years in Howard County. In 2013, she went on to pursue her interest in lymphedema treatment and oncology rehabilitation at Mercy Medical Center. She worked under the mentorship of Maureen McBeth and earned her Certified Lymphedema Therapist through Klose Training. She is excited to move into private practice and have the opportunity to utilize both her orthopedic and oncology experience at Bodywise PT by Forever Fit. She loves helping patients return to pre-diagnosis levels of function, both in the cancer and orthopedic world. Chanel is an avid sports fan and loves cheering on the home team. She enjoys learning more about plant based diets. After work and on the weekends she enjoys being outside and being active, especially through Zumba and hiking.
